Intended for beginning users, this workshop assumes no prior experience with Microsoft Excel. Class defines a spreadsheet application, how to move about the sheet, data entry, cell formatting, mouse features, labels, number, formulas, functions, the copy command, and relative and absolute addresses.
Any WKU faculty or staff member wishing to present materials online. Graduate assistants and teaching assistants are welcome to attend with their supervising faculty member.
Blackboard is the course management system supported at Western Kentucky University. This system allows you to easily distribute your syllabus, course documents, student grades, and other course related materials via the Internet. This workshop is intended for any faculty member who wishes to use the Blackboard system here at WKU. In this session, you will learn how to create course sites and add students to those sites. You will also learn how to log into Blackboard, navigate your course sites, and load and manage your course content.

Any WKU faculty or staff member who has completed the Blackboard New Course Instructors Workshop OR New Organization Leaders workshop and is interested in collecting homework/assignments electronically.
Blackboard includes a feature to collect electronic assignments. This workshop will cover how to use this feature.

Any WKU faculty or staff member who has completed the Blackboard New Course Instructors Workshop OR New Organization Leaders workshop and is interested in administering tests online.
Blackboard offers the ability to administer tests online, which the system can grade for you automatically and record that grade in the gradebook. This session will cover aspects of taking an online exam, building and deploying exams, and managing the associated grades and data.
New this month is a session on Microsoft Outlook. Using Outlook 2010 is an introductory class covering all the basic information needed to successfully use Outlook at WKU. This session is scheduled on Wednesday, January 16 at 1:30 PM.
Additional sessions in January include Blackboard topics, OU Campus and Adobe Photoshop Basics.
All sessions listed on this calendar are free of charge. Training offered by the IT Division is intended for faculty and staff, with some sessions open to students also. The description of each workshop contains information about who should attend.
Training Available COMPLETELY Online
The IT Division is now offering the Blackboard New Course Instructor training completely online as an alternative to the face-to-face session with the same name. You can register for this course through the IT Training tab in Blackboard (https://blackboard.wku.edu). There are a number of other workshops available online through the IT Training tab, including additional Blackboard topics, Respondus, Tegrity, Adobe Captivate, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop Basics, Clickers, OU Campus, and Creating ADA Compliant Course Materials.
IT provides a number of video tutorials that cover a wide variety of technology topics. Most tutorials are less than five minutes long and can be accessed anytime, anywhere, as many times as desired by way of the Internet. While viewing these videos, you can pause and rewind them to make sure you get the information you need. Videos are added periodically and marked as “NEW!” on the Video Tutorials page. This will make it easier for you to identify videos that have been added. Our library of videos currently houses over 370 tutorials.
